Owlbear (standard/basic) concept art for The Forgotten Realms (Dungeons & Dragons).

This was a basic concept going off the key descriptions and it being a basic mash-up, spanning all the previous owlbear versions for D&D over the last 30+ years. The challenge was coming up with a creature design that didn't come across as "cute or cuddly"...it needed to be something you fear if you encounter one, so a few more variations were completed after this.

I adore this one! Both are good but the small head gives this a much larger creepy factor. Naturally not all owl bears look the same so keeping both works too!
